Wait a Minute Hold on Dawg

Video posting overload this week, sorry, but I could not resist this one.

ps I had the pleasure of witnessing Kels' 2 hour show live last week and he definitely took a cellphone call during his performance to segway into "Real Talk" and I laughed my ass off.

Go All Out

pic from hu's site

Hu's Shoes is having a 25% off sale on everything online til Dec 2...what a great excuse to splurge. On those McQueen heels--the heel is a naked lady for christ's sake!

Jungle Life

The winter is closing in on DC, even though today's high is 58 degrees fahrenheit. Sometimes I think winter is more of a state of mind than a temperature. When the Christmas decorations go up, and the leaves fall off the trees, it doesn't matter how warm it is outside, I still feel like bundling up and drinking cocoa. But it also makes me long for spring (I'm a perpetual-heat kind of girl, welcoming global warming and all its effects). This wonderful project from Cookie magazine lets you capture a bit of spring in your home to ward off the chills:

Make a terrarium--to remind you of warmer times or to gift to someone who longs for the greenery of spring.

So, maybe I dropped the posting ball last week, but I'm back with a vengeance.

Deerparture

Don't miss: the Mircea Cantor Black Box piece at the Hirshorn. Definitely not vegan. ends Dec 9th!

Setchi DC

Have you checked out the new DC eco-boutique Setchi? It' s a welcome addition to the consumerism of Georgetown...sure, it still promotes buying things, but at least the products are ethical and the space itself is somewhat sustainable. They've used recycled materials to craft the store and donate some profits to environmental causes. In case you avoid Georgetown (I would too if not for the irresistable Harmony Cafe), they just started an online shop!

Pay it Foward

Taking part in this because I couldn't resist Renee's offer:

I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

Self Explanatory

Buy Less Crap: my sentiments exactly on the (Red) campaign/capitalist "charity". I believe they have yet to make enough money to actually donate anything--thanks Bono.

Freshfarm Dolcezza

courtesy of Cathy's cellphone

Earlier this fall the fair Fiona recommended Dolcezza, the delectable Argentine gelato joint in G-town. Well, they have become even sweeter and fresher with a stand at the Freshfarm outdoor market in Dupont on Sundays. One look at their menu board and you are instantly warmed by flavors like Apple Cider Clove, Ricotta Honey, and Longneck Pumpkin, made with fresh ingredients supplied by Freshfarm local farmers. I love it when good things get even better.

Quilts

The Renwick Gallery has an exhibition of quilts through January 28.

Quilts may be meant to keep you warm at night, but as this exhibition shows, they can also possess hypnotic, kaleidescopic beauty that changes shape before your eyes if you stare at them long enough.

Surface 2 Air

pics from surface 2 air site

Design collective Surface 2 Air has begun peddling women's clothing, expanding their reach into fashion some more. The ads they did for Tsumori Chisato rocked my world and the were also responsible for the music video for that song you couldn't escape last year--in short, they know what they are doing design-wise. Their men's line is available at the Barney's Co-op in Georgetown, who knows if we will ever see the women's stuff in DC.

This Week
