I am actually losing my mind over how amazing this fabric's pattern is - and don't even get me started on the great shape and texture of her design.

I have been keeping tabs in this delightful little monstrosity (and I mean that in the best possible way!) since it appeared in Lucky months and months ago. It stood out from the endless parade of buyable things that the magazine crams into every issue, and it has stayed in my heart ever since. Now I see that this jacket, having been a little too real for everyone, has gone on sale - which further cements my belief that it and I were meant to be together.



It's called the Dread Jacket, dudes. How delightfully twisted is that? Literally and figuratively?

Update! On a hunch, I did some digging - it was actually this cardigan that appeared in Lucky. Still amazing! Still creepy! Still desirable!

Instinctively, I lean toward natural knits for warmth in colder months. I have always been into wool and once I discovered alpaca (domesticated camel siblings) to be warmer than sheep's wool, hypoallergenic (allergies freakishly seem to multiply for me these days) and is often used in the sustainable and fair trade markets (see DC's upcoming Green Festival). This season's creations by Wang and Comey show even more promise for a fashionable, and, I am gonna say it, more humane alternative to fur. And, if you are thinking it, Uggs would clash with this look. Don't do it.

I am taking this really awesome class: the Anthropology of Food. Today, we discussed Andean farming traditions: how they've been in practice for thousands of years with no detriment to the soil or slackening in crop yields. These dudes have literally found the perfect way to farm!

Happy birthday, Martha! Like a fine wine, you only get better with age! (Note her prescient Big Love-FLDS steez. I am so into these massive, sculpted waves of hair and the Precious-meets-dowdy vibe. It's so aggressively matronly that it's basically punk.)

I doubt that anyone needs to be reminded that the second season of Mad Men commences tonight at 10 pm on AMC. This cable-less girl will be in her parent's basement, eating pesto and crying over everyone's outfits. I can never decide whose I like the best.

Rachel is so haute.


Peggy has this weird Chloe Sevigny aura that I am obsessed with.


Betty is just, like, perfect -- but in a way that I am not totally crazy about.


Joan had this one really great necklace that made several appearances last season.

I know that we are supposed to be distracted by her hubba-hubba vibe, but what I really appreciate is the simplicity of Joan's outfits.

Midge, of course, kicks ass.


I think my favorite, though, is Helen Bishop.

I think it's because she is divorced, and therefore badass. Maybe it's her vaguely-menswear tendencies?
